Stephan Van den Broucke is Professor of Public Health Psychology and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the Université Catholique de Louvain. He formerly held positions at the Flemish Institute for Health Promotion, the Executive Agency for Health and Consumers of the European Commission, and the Department of International Health of Maastricht University. His main research interest are health promotion, health behavior change, self-management education, health literacy, capacity building, and sustainable development. He has been a principal investigator in several large-scale international projects and author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications in high profile journals. He is an elected Board Member of the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (UHPE), a member of the Working Group on Social Research Methods of the European Food Safety Authority, and associate editor of Health Promotion International. He regularly serves as an adviser for the European Commission and the WHO.
