Geert Crombez is professor in Health Psychology at UGent, and an expert in behavioral change, promotion of a healthy lifestyle and the psychology of somatic symptoms. Foundational to his research is a motivational perspective that is centred around the powers of goals and self-regulation. One of his research objectives is to bring the lab to the real world, for which he has developed interdisciplinary collaborations within Ghent University and abroad. He is well appreciated for his theory-based research on behavior change, which has resulted in the development of eHealth interventions for behavioral change. He has also investigated the reasons why individuals do (not) adhere to the current measures in response to the COVID 19 pandemic.
